Singida Big Stars humble JKU SC in TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup

Tanzania Premier League side, Singida Big Stars FC kick started their 2023/2024 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary campaign on a winning note on Friday in Dar es Salaam.

Singida Big Stars defeated Zanzibari side JKU SC 4-1 in the first leg of the first round in a match played at the Azam Complex in Chamazi.

New signing Marouf Tchakei netted a first half brace, while Morice Chukwu also got his name on the score sheet to give Singida Big Stars a 3-0 lead at half time.

Only one minute into the second half Kenyan international Duke Abuya made it 4-0 for Singida Big Stars, but Saleh Massoud Abdalla pulled one back for JKU SC through a penalty after 63 minutes.

Hans Van Pluijm, the Singida Big Stars coach said he was happy with the attitude of his players in the first leg. ” We need to keep working hard because we still have the second leg, ” added Pluijm.

Action continues today with more teams from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) in action.

Kenya’s Kakamega Homeboyz will host Al Hilal Benghazi (Libya), while Haidob Al Nuhod (Sudan) take on South Sudan’s Al Merriekh Juba. Arta Solar FC from Djibouti will also be up against Horseed FC (Somalia).
