Simba SC win, Singida Fountain Gate storm Mapinduzi Cup quarters

Tanzania Premier Singida Fountain Gate FC have registered their second straight win at the ongoing Mapinduzi Cup to storm into the quarter final stage.

After stopping JKU SC 4-1 in the opening match, the Tanzania Premier League side fought from a goal down to defeat APR FC (Rwanda) 3-1 in a Group B match played at the refurbished Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Monday.

Victor Mbaoma gave the Rwanda Premier League reigning champions an early lead after only 2 minutes, but Elvis Rupia made it 1-1 at the stroke of half time.

After recess Morice Chukwu and Fancy Kazadi scored two more goals to ensure Singida Fountain Gate FC made it to the quarter final stage before they play Simba SC in their last Group match.

In the second match Simba SC made a winning start seeing off Zanzibar’s JKU FC 3-1 in another Group B match played at the same Stadium. Moses Phiri put Simba Sc ahead after 8 minutes , but Neva Kaboma equalized for JKU after 42 minutes. Hassan Mohamed fumbled in goal to score an own goal after 64 minutes to put Simba SC back ahead, and Saleh Kalabaka made it 3-1 after 65 minutes.

On Sunday KVZ FC and South Sudan’s Jamus FC settled for a 1-1 draw match, while Young Africans SC thrashed Jamhuri SC 5-0 in Group C matches.

Action will continue on Tuesday with Vital’O (Burundi) facing Azam FC, while Jamus FC take on Young Africans SC in Group A matches.

The Mapinduzi Cup is organised by the government of Zanzibar together with the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF).

Group C : Young Africans SC, Jamhuri SC, Jamus FC, KVZ FC
