Simba SC to face South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in Confederation Cup quarters

Tanzanian giants and CECAFA representatives Simba SC will face Orlando Pirates in the quarter final stage of the 2021/2022 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

In the draw made on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt the Tanzanian side Simba will host the first leg on April 17th in Dar es salaam before the retrun leg in South Africa on April 24th.

To reach the knock out stage Simba stopped Niger’s USGN 4-0 last weekend to finish second in Group D, while Orlando Pirates topped Group B.

In case Simba SC eliminate the Soutth African side, they will meet the winner between the two Libyan sides Al-Ittihad and Al Ahli Tripoli. The winner between Pyramids FC (Egypt) and DR Congo’s TP Mazembe will take on the winner between Al Masry (Egypt) and RS Berkane (Morocco) in the second semi final.

Pablo Franco Martin, the Simba coach admitted that Orlando Pirates are tough opponents. “But I am sure they are also worried of facing us. At this stage there is no margin for mistakes and we need to get a good result in the first leg at home first,” added the Simba Coach.
