Simba SC stop Ethiopian giants St. George

Simba Sports Club stopped visiting St. George of Ethiopia 2-0 in a international friendly match played on Monday evening at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The match which marked the climax of the Simba Day 2022 also helped the two sides prepare ahead of the 202/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League whose draw will be conducted later today.

Kibu Dennis gave Simba SC the lead after 20 minutes with a hard short from a long hard short that the St. George team failed to pick. Newly signed Nigerian midfielder Nelson Okwa netted the second goal to ensure Simba SC won the match infront of the fully packed stadium.

Zoran Manojlović, the Simba SC head coach said he was impressed with the way his players played. “This has been a very good test for the team ahead of the Charity Sheild and the new season,” added the Simba Coach.

St. George Coach Zerihun Shengeta said although his team lost the match, they learnt several lessons as they prepare for the new season and TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. The Ethiopian Premier League champions also had the opportunity to test some of their new signings like Dawit Tefera and Ramdan Yesuf.
