CECAFA giants Simba Queens will face Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the play-off for third place at the on-going 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.

Simba Queens put up strong performance last night in the first semi final, but lost 1-0 to reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies team at the Prince Moulay Al Hassan Stadium, Rabat in Morocco.

Simba Queens captain Opah Clement and Asha Djafari had opportunities to score, but the Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper was up to the task.

In the second half Mamelodi Sundowns netted the lone goal through the Lesotho international Boitumelo Rabale who capitalized on a good Melinda Kgadiete cross to score after 76 minutes.

Charles Lukula, the Simba Queens coach says his team put up a good performance, but failed to take their chances. “We played against defending champions and gave a good account of ourselves. We shall now go back and plan for the play-off match,” added the coach.

Simba Queens will now face the Nigerian side on November 12th in Rabat. Beyelsa Queens lost 1-0 to Morocco’s ASFAR in the second semi final match played last night.
