Rwanda, Zanzibar elect new FA presidents
The Member Associations of Rwanda and Zanzibar have elected new Presidents.
Delegates elected businessman Olivier Nizeyimana as the new president of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) during a general assembly held at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali.
Nizeyimana was unopposed after veteran referee Louis Rurangirwa pulled out of the race on the day of the election that was surpervised by FIFA, CAF and CECAFA president Wallace Karia.
“We still need your support as we move to build our football and take it to another level,” said Nizeyimana who replaces Retired Brig. General Jean-Damascene Sekamana who resigned in April this year.
In Zanzibar, members also elected Abdul-Latif Ali Yassin as president of the Zanzibar Football Federation (ZFF) during the General Assembly held at the Mafunxo Hall on Sunday. Abdul Latif collected 16 votes, while Suleiman Shaban Suleiman collected 8 votes.
“Let us work together to improve and develop football in Zanzibar,” said the new ZFF President.
