Rwanda to host 73rd FIFA Congress in Kigali
Rwanda will host the 73rd FIFA Congress to be held in Kigali on March 16th, 2023.
The World Football governing body made the announcement today making Rwanda the first country in the CECAFA region that will host a FIFA Congress.
In a communication issued on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 FIFA announced that the 2023 FIFA Presidential elections will also take place during the FIFA Congress in Kigali, Rwanda.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council composed of the FIFA President Gianni Infantino the six confederation presidents has addressed a number of key topics and taken the following decisions,” said the communication.
“The 73rd FIFA Congress will be held in Kigali, Rwanda on 16 March 2023. The 2023 FIFA presidential election will take place at the 73rd FIFA Congress, the call for which was approved by the FIFA Council during its meeting on 30 March 2022,” added the communication.
Rwanda also hosted the FIFA Council meeting in October 2018.
The other African countries that have hosted the FIFA Congress before include Morocco (Marrakech, 2005) and Mauritius in 2013.
