The Amavubi and Tanzania settled for a goalless draw in an international friendly math played at the Kigali Stadium on Monday. Rwanda and their Tanzanian counterparts used the match to prepare ahead of their second leg encounters in the 2020 Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.

Tanzania who lost the first leg 1-0 will play against Sudan away in Khartoum over the weekend, while Rwanda who have a 1-0 advantage host Ethiopia.

In the build-up game the two teams all missed some scoring opportunities. Vincent Mashami, Rwanda’s coach said the match helped his team prepare well ahead of the crucial game on Saturday.

“We need to polish the attacking department because the game against Ethiopia will be very tricky,” added Mashami.

In the other international friendly matches played in the region last weekend Kenya suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Mozambique on Sunday, while Uganda Cranes stopped hosts Ethiopia 1-0 with Emmanuel Okwi scoring the lone goal.
