The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad has praised Eritrea and the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) for successfully organizing the U-15 Challenge Cup.

Uganda emerged champions after defeating Kenya 4-0 in the final last Friday at the Asmara National Stadium. The tournament supported by FIFA attracted 10 teams.

CAF President Ahmad together with FA Presidents from Tanzania, Somalia and the Vice President of the Rwanda FA all graced the final of the inaugural tournament.

“I am very happy to see Eritrea and Cecafa host a successful U-15 Championship which will go along way in promoting talent in the region,” said the CAF President.

Ahmad also met and held talks with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in his office on Saturday in Adi Haqlo, Asmara.

During the talks with President Afwerki, the CAF boss noted that organizing sports competitions demand good will of politicians in a country and Eritrea has showed this as well.

He also visited the family of Eritrea football icon Tesfaye Gebreyesus to console them on his demise. The former ENFF president passed away on 24 August in Asmara.
