The regional CECAFA Women’s U-20 Championship will kick-off on October 30th at the FUFA technical Centre in Njeru, Uganda without fans allowed in the Stadium.

Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairperson made it clear during a press conference at the FUFA headquarters in Mengo today that no fans will be allowed in the Stadium due to the COVID-19 guidelines in the country.

“Strict COVID-19 protocols will be observed during the entire tournament. We would like to communicate to the entire public that no fans will be allowed inside the stadium due to the COVID-19 guidelines in the country,” said Kiyingi.

She however said the LOC is in advanced stages to secure a broadcast partner for the tournament to give every Ugandan a chance to watch the tournament live on TV.

She made it clear that women football has grown in leaps and bounds in the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region. “It is a privilege for FUFA to host yet another CECAFA tournament. We are ready to make everyone feel at home,” added,” added Kiyingi.

The six teams that will take part in the tournament to be played on a round robin basis and runs October 30th to November 9th include; Uganda, Eritrea, Burundi, Tanzania, Djibouti and Ethiopia.
