Nasuuna scores a brace to help Uganda humble Eswatini 5-1
Second half substitute Hasifah Nassuna netted a brace to help Uganda Crested Cranes register their first win at the on-going COSAFA Women’s Championship 2021 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
But it was Joan Nabirye who gave Uganda Crested Cranes the lead after 15 minutes with a well taken shot to beat Eswatini’s goalkeeper Sukoluhle Agrineth Sibandze.
Eswatini tried to fight back and pushed forward failed to break through the defending line of the Ugandan team. Riticia Nabbosa put Uganda Crested Cranes 2-0 up after 25 minutes in the Group C match at the Madibaz increased
In the second half Eswatini pulled a goal back through Celiwe Thandazile Nkambule in the 56th minute after a defensive lapse in the Uganda Crested Cranes defence.
But before the Eswatini team could settle Sandra Nabweteme scored the third goal for Uganda Crested Cranes. Substitute Nassuna later came on and netted a brace to make sure Uganda won 5-1 to go top of the group.
“I am happy that we came all out and managed to score many goals to win the match. We need to keep improving in every match,” said George William Lutalo, Uganda Crested Cranes head coach.
Uganda started their campaign with a goalless draw against Namibia last week. They will now face Zambia in a group decider match on October 5th.
Zambia was slated to face Namibia in the second Group C match later today.
