Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets through to CECAFA Kagame Cup final
Guest side Nyasa Big Bullets FC have qualified for the final of the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The Malawi Premier League side edged Azam FC 4-2 in penalty shootouts after the match had ended 2-2 at the Azam Complex, Chamazi this evening in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Nyasa Big Bullets FC will now face Uganda’s Express FC in the final to be played on August 14th. The two sides settled for a 1-1 draw in a group match during the preliminary round of the regional tournament.
The match graced by Véron Mosengo-Omba, the CAF General Secretary and CECAFA and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President Wallace Karia saw Bright Munthali give Nyasa Big Bullets the lead after only 2 minutes.
In the second half after 67 minutes Nickson Nyasulu conceded an own goal to make it 1-1. The defender tried to clear a cross, but instead cleared the ball past his goalkeeper.
The home side piled a lot of pressure before Tepsi Evancy Theonasy made it 2-1 after 73 minutes. But the Malawian side kept pushing forward and got the equalizer with Munthali scoring his second on the day after 78 minutes.
After 90 minutes, the two teams played another extra 30 minutes but failed to find the goals. Nyasa Big Bullets scored their penalty shootouts through Yamikani Fodya, Hassan Kajoke, Fantastic Kayira and Nickson Nyasulu.
