Lesotho hold Ethiopia in warm-up tie ahead of AFCON 2023 qualifiers

The Walia ibex of Ethiopia picked two draws in International matches played in Addis Ababa on Saturday and Monday.

In the first match played Tumelo Makha gave the Lesotho team the lead at the Adama Science and Technology Stadium. But substitute Yiegezu Bogale made it 1-1 after 60 minutes.

The two teams played yet another match on Monday as they prepare for the fourth coming TotalEnegries Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers.

This time Ethiopia took the lead through Dawa Hotesa, before Jani Tabaseto leveled matters for Lesotho.

Wubetu Abate, Ethiopia’s head coach said he was happy that his team have played two international friendly matches ahead of two AFCON qualifying matches against Malawi and Egypt.

“These matches have helped us to prepare and test some of the systems that we can use or not,” added the experienced.

In another international friendly played last weekend South Sudan and Sudan played out to a goalless draw in a match played in Morocco where the two teams are camping.

The teams from the CECAFA region that will be in action in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers starting on June 2nd, 2022 include; Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan.
