Kizito to lead Uganda Hippos in Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup

SC Villa’s youthful defender Gavin Mugweri Kizito will captain Uganda Hippos in the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup. Kizito also led Uganda’s team at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) U-17 tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The Uganda Hippos team that arrived in Gulu District this morning is handled by KCCA FC’s assistant coach Morley Byekwaso. The team is accommodated at the Friendship Global Hotel.

The Uganda Hippos will face Eritrea in their opening Group A match on Saturday at the Pece War Memorial Stadium.

Coach Byekwaso said his team is ready to give a good account of themselves during the tournament. “We are looking forward to playing good football and we also call upon the local fans to come and motivate the team,” added the coach.

Uganda’s opponents for the opening match together with the Tanzanian team are expected to arrive this evening on an Ethiopian Airlines flight. The Zanzibar and Ethiopia teams will jet-in on Friday, while Somalia arrive on Saturday.
