Kenya’s Harambee Starlets face Northern Ireland in Turkish Women’s Cup

The Harambee Starlets will face Northern Ireland in their first match of the Turkish Women’s Cup tonight in Istanbul. Coach David Ouma’s team will also have the chance to battle against the Chile team on Saturday finally Uzbekistan.

The tournament in Turkey will act as a buildup for Harambee Starlets to the upcoming Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in April.

The winner of the first-round tie will face off with either of DR Congo or Sao Tome and Principe in the second and final qualifying round. Harambee Starlets also lifted the 2019 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in Tanzania last year.

“We are happy that we have been presented with this opportunity to play in the Turkish Women’s Cup. This will help our team to prepare well,” added the coach.

Besides Turkey, the other teams expected to take part in the Turkish Women’s Cup include; Hungary, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Romania and Turkmenistan.
