The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has requested the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone their 2012 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier game against Comoros. Nick Mwendwa, the FKF said on Tuesday that they have written to CAF seeking postponement of the match in the wake of the spread of the deadly Corona Virus (COVID -19) around the world.

Kenya are meant to host Comoros on March 25th in Nairobi before the return leg in Stade Omnisports de Malouzini, Moroni four days later.

“Based on the directive issued by the Ministry of Health, we have requested CAF to postpone our match against Comoros,” said the FKF President Mwendwa.

Kenya’s Ministry of Health directed against all meetings, conferences, and events of international nature in Kenya.

“We understand why this may be a hard decision for CAF in that there will be World Cup and AFCON qualifiers leaving no open window to play these games, but I urge them to kindly consider our appeal,” he added.

The Harambee Stars who embarked on preparations on Monday with the home based players are currently second in Group G with two points, while Comoros are top with four points.

Kenya played in the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt but failed to come out of the Group that had Senegal, Tanzania and eventual champions Algeria.
