Kelvin John on Tanzania’s Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup squad
Striker Kelvin John will be part of Tanzania’s squad for the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup. The Tanzanian team is expected to arrive in Uganda on Thursday, according to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) General Secretary, Wilfred Kidao.
The 16-year old star striker who was part of Tanzania’s team at the 2019 Afcon U-17 is one of the few younger players included on the squad.
Kelvin John was also called on the Taifa Stars team during preparations for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). The striker grabbed the attention of top European teams like Ajax Amsterdam FC (Holland) and English Premier League giants Manchester City.
Tanzania under the guidance of coach Zuberi Katwila are placed in Group B alongside Kenya, Ethiopia and Zanzibar.
Katwila’s team will start their campaign against Ethiopia on September 22nd at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru. They will play their second game against Kenya two days later and the last group game against Zanzibar on September 26th.
The finals for the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup sponsored by FIFA will be played on October 5th.
