Kampala Queens FC celebrate winning Uganda Women’s Super League title

Kampala Queens FC are the 2022/2023 FUFA Women’s Super League champions.

Handled by Hamza Lutalo, the Kampala Queens FC clinched the title after defeating UCU Lady Cardinals 2-0 in a League match played last Sunday at the IUIU Kabojja Campus.

An own goal by Bridget Nabisaalu and another by Shamirah Nalugya were enough to ensure Kampala Queens FC won the match to lift their first League title.

The win saw Kampala Queens FC go to 40 points, while Kawempe Muslim Ladies have collected 23 points. With 14 matches played, winning 13 and drawing once, Kampala Queens FC still have two matches to complete the League that attracted 10 teams this season.

“I am very happy that after hard work we have won the title. We still have to continue working hard because we have two remaining matches and others in the knock out Cup,” says coach Lutalo.

Nalugya, one of the key players of the Kampala Queens FC said they set their targets from the start and they have achieved one of them. “We are glad we have lifted the title with even two matches remaining,” added Nalugya.

Moses Hassim Magogo, the Club proprietor also made it clear that their target is beyond just the League indicating they want to compete in CAF Women’s Champions League.

“Kampala Queens, we are the 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League. We dreamt, we have conquered. Congratulations to the players, staff, fans and the management of Kampala Queens. We are currently the dream destination of the most talented girls in Uganda offering the best conditions,” said Magogo on his Twitter handle.

Kampala Queens FC also boosts of some top players like national team captain Hasifah Nassuna, Grace Aluka, Joan Nabirye, Sumayah Komuntale, Resty Nanziri, Asia Nakibuuka, Margaret Kunihira and goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro.
