The final of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2022 qualifier – CECAFA Zone takes place this evening at the Azam Complex, Chamazi in Tanzania.

Uganda’s She Corporate FC will battle Tanzania Women’s Premier League champions Simba Queens FC. It will be a repeat of the Group B match the two teams played with Simba Queens winning 2-0. To reach the final She Corporate ejected Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC 2-1, while Simba Queens brushed aside AS Kigali WFC 5-1.

But before the final Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, last year’s runners-up will take on AS Kigali WFC in a play-off match to decide which team takes third place.

Phiona Nabbumba who is She Corporate’s leading scorer (six goals) in the tournament is expected to lead the Ugandan team against a well organized Simba Queens side. “Simba is a very good team with many skillful players. But we played them before in the group stage and know their strength and weaknesses,” says She Corporate coach Charles Lukula Ayiekoh.

But the Simba Queens head coach Leonard Sebastian Nkoma made it clear that they will not take their opponents lightly. “This is a final and we must respct our opponents, but use tactics that will win us the match,” added the coach.

Simba Queens will look to some of their in-form players Opa Clement Tukumbuke, Asha Djuma Djafari and Kenyan defender Vivian Aquino Carozone who has already netted fout goals in the competition.

The winning team will also receive a cash prize of US$30,000, while the runner-up takes US$20,000 and the third placed team US$10,000. The other Awards that will be presented include; Best Player of the Tournament, Top Scorer, Fair Play Award and Best Goalkeeper.

The competition is partly supported by the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan who like last year contributed US$100,000.

The Zomnal competition which started on August 14th attracted eight CECAFA members Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Djibouti, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Zanzibar.
