Coach Vincent Mashami’s Amavubi Stars defeated Guinea 3-0 in an international friendly match played in Kigali, Rwanda yesterday.

The Guinea team has been camped in Rwanda since last week as they prepare for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 slated for January 9th to February 6th in Cameroon.

Muhadjir Hakizimana gave the hosts the lead after 22 minutes at the Amahoro Stadium. But the West Africans tried to fight back, but failed to find the target.

In the second half Dany Usengimana and substitute Fred Muhozi added two more goals as they run rings around the Guinea defenders. Sory Kara had several attempts at the Rwanda goal, but young Amavubi who goalkeeper Adolphe Hakizimana who was making his debut was in good form.

“We are happy with the performance today and the young players we introduced to the team also played well,” said Rwanda’s coach Mashami.

The two teams will again face-off on January 6th before the Guinea team travels to Cameroon for the AFCON 2021.
