Vihiga Queens to face JKT Queens in CAF Champions League qualifiers

Kenya Women’s Premier League champions Vihiga Queens FC will battle JKT Queens (Tanzania) in Group B at the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone.

The qualifiers which will attract nine teams will take place in the Ugandan towns of Jinja and

Kampala between August 12-30th, 2023.

In the draw conducted in Rabat, Morocco on Wednesday Vihiga Queens FC (the 2021 Zonal champions), JKT Queens FC, AS Kigali (Rwanda) and Zanzibar’s New Generation FC were placed in Group B which will be based at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Kampala.

Newly crowned Uganda Women’s Premier League champions Kampala Queens FC, CBE SA (Ethiopia), F.A.D FC (Djibouti), Buja Queens FC (Burundi) and South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars FC have been placed in Group A to be based at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Yussuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Director conducted the draw for the CECAFA Zone that took place at the Auditorium of the Complex Mohamed VI in Rabat. The other Zones UNAF, WAFU A and WAFU B also conducted their draws.

The best team from each Zone will qualify to play in the 2023 Caf Women’s Champions League to take place in Cote d’Ivoire later this year.
