FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers: Eritrea ejects Djibouti 6-1 on aggregate
Eritrea have qualified for the second round of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers
The Eritrean team defeated Djibouti 3-0 in the second leg of the qualifiers played in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today. The win saw Eritrea qualify on a 6-1 goal aggregate.
Misgana Mehari netted the opening goal after 47 minutes, before Diana Estifanos added a brace to give Djibouti no chance to fight back.
“We are very happy to win the two legs and qualify for the second round,” Delina Sahle who scored a brace for Eritrea in the first leg told Cecafaonline.
Eritrea will now face Tanzania in the second round. Rwanda also qualified for the second round after their opponents South Sudan withdrew. Rwanda will now face Ethiopia in the second round.
In the second round Burundi will also battle against Namibia, while Kenya face Uganda.
Three more rounds will be played, with two teams representing Africa in the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to take place in Costa Rica.
