FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers: Eritrea down Djibouti in first leg

Eritrea defeated Djibouti 3-1 in the first leg of the first round in the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers in a match played on Sunday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The two Member Associations agreed to have the match played on a neutral ground at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.
Delina Sahle netted a brace for the Eritrean team, while Rahwa Nega scored the other. Lerman Sikieh scored the lone goal for the Djibouti team.

The return leg will be played at the same Stadium on August 18th. The winner over two legs will qualify to face Tanzania in the second round.

South Sudan will also face Rwanda in the first round, while the other teams from the CECAFA region waiting for action in the second round include; Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Ethiopia.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will have two representatives for the final tournament of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to take place in Costa Rica.
