FIFA team concludes visit to Somalia
A team of three FIFA officials concluded a visit to Somalia on May 4th, 2022.
The team comprised of Solomon Mudege (Fifa’s head of development programmes for Africa), Sarah Kapinga Mukuna (Finance and Governance Manager) and Abigail Lemma Hailemicheal (FIFA Regional Development Coordinator for UNAF & CECAFA, Kigali Office).
The team visited the Somali Football Federation (SFF) headquarters, the national stadium and the technical centre among others. The team also met with several SFF officials and the acting President of the Ali Abdi Mohamed.
Yusuf Ahmed, the General Secretary of the Somali Football Federation (SSF) said that the visit to Somalia by the FIFA team was timely. “We are glad that the team managed to visit several places and had an on spot assessment,” said the General Secretary.
The Acting President of SFF, Ali Abdi Mohamed also made it clear that the visit by the FIFA team comes at a good time. “This visit will helps the world d body to assess what is on the ground in terms of football in Somalia and what needs to be done,” he added.
