FIFA President Gianni Infantino set to visit Burundi

The Burundi Football Federation (FFB) has revealed that FIFA President Gianni Infantino is set to visit the country.

Alexandre Muyenge, President of the Burundi Federation told Cecafaonline that Infantino will visit Burundi from October 21-22, 2023.

” We are glad that finally the FIFA President will be coming to Burundi were he will tour several football facilities and also hold important meetings, ” added Muyenge.

The official visit to Burundi will allow the FIFA President to discuss with the leaders of the FFB and the country’s high authorities on the development of football through the FIFA-FORWARD projects.

In their last official meeting at the FIFA’s Paris bureau in France, the FFB President and Infantino discussed a wide range of football development topics, including infrastructure support, the growth of the women’s game and how to ensure every talent is given a chance, so that the next generation will all have access to the facilities they need to play the sport.

Currently FFB is also renovating the Intwari stadium in Bujumbura so that can meet the international standards.

The FIFA President has visited eight CECAFA member countries since 2016 including South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Sudan.
