The Red Eagles Express FC have picked a morale boosting 2-1 win against arch-rivals SC Villa in a Uganda Premier League match played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru today.

Isaac Ogwang gave the hosts the lead after 6 minutes when he nodded in a well taken Nicholas Kabonge free kick.

After 17 minutes Express piled lots of pressure before Amir Kakomo turned the ball into his own net. Striker Eric Kambale put Express FC ahead with a goal at the stroke of half time.

The two teams continued to create several scoring opportunities, but failed to score more goals. The win sent Express FC to 39 points and they maintained 5th place on the log. SC Villa are a distant 12th with only 25 points.

James Odoch, the Express FC interim coach praised his players for putting up a spirited fight to win the match. “We shall go back and plan for our next game against Wakiso Giants FC and see that we win it as well,” added Odoch.

Vipers SC currently lead the table with 52 points after 22 matches played, while KCCA FC are second with the same number of matches played and 45 points.
