Ethiopia’s CBE FC to open against Buja Queens FC

The CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone will kick-off on August 12th with two A matches to be played at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC who finished third in the Zonal qualifiers last year will face Buja Queens (Burundi) in the opening match.

Skipper Loza Abera will lead the Ethiopian Women’ Premier League reigning champions as they begin their campaign in pursuit of their first trophy at international level.

The second match will see newly crowned Uganda Women’s Premier League champions Kampala Queens test the international stage when they face Yei Joint Stars from South Sudan.

Former champions Vihiga Queens from Kenya will take on New Generations FC (Zanzibar) in the opening Group B match on August 13th at the Omondi Stadium in Kampala. The second match will see Tanzania’s JKT Queens face As Kigali Women (Rwanda).

The qualifiers have attracted nine teams and the best team will represent the CECAFA Zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 to be played in Côte d’Ivoire between November 5-19th.

Vihiga Queens and Simba Queens (Tanzania) have represented the Zone in the previous two CAF Women’s Champions League held in Egypt and Morocco respectively.
