Ethiopia to face Ghana in final round of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier
CECAFA representatives Ethiopia will face Ghana in the final round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier in March this year.
The Ethiopian team stopped Tanzania 2-0 on Friday to qualify on a 2-1 aggregate, while Ghana ejected Uganda 7-1 on aggregate.
Firew Hailegebral, the Ethiopian U-20 Women’s coach told Cecafaonline.com that he is happy his players played a good match to see off Tanzania on Friday.
“We lost the first leg 1-0, but we remained confident we could win back home,” said the head coach.
He made it clear that although Ghana is a seasoned team which is experienced, they will continue to prepare well because they have a good chance to be at the World Cup.
In the other matches played over the weekend Senegal ejected Morocco, while Nigeria saw-off Cameroon. Senegal will now battle Nigeria in the other match in the last phase of the qualifiers
Africa will be represented by two teams in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup that will take place in Costa Rica.
