Ethiopia face Burkina Faso in last AFCON 2021 Group A match

The Walia Ibex of Ethiopia will face Burkina Faso this evening in their last Group A match at the on-going TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021.

After two defeats in the earlier matches played in Yaounde, Cameroon, coach Wubetu Abate’s team will simply be playing for pride today at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam.

“Burkina Faso is a strong side. But we shall go all out to try and get our first win in the tournament,” said Abate on Sunday during the pre-match press conference.

The coach said that defensively they have not played so well in the tournament and will also have to get clinical infront of goal. “We have not defended well and we are also not taking our chances infront of goal. We want to approach the game against Burkina Faso a little differently,” added the coach.

Ethiopia, one of the representatives from the CECAFA region are bottom of Group A after losing their opening match 1-0 to Cape Verde and 4-1 to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Sudan who are also yet to win a match in the tournament will face seven time AFCON winners Egypt in their last Group D match on Wednesday at the Ahhadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
