Newly appointed head coach of Kenya’s national team, Firat Engin has said he is motivated about the challenge with the Harambee Stars.

“I am motivated and excited about the challenge. I am confident that we can get the positive result we desire in this qualification campaign,” said Engin.

The new coach will start his new assignment with the upcoming back-to-back FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Group E table leaders Mali.

Kenya are second in the group after registering a goalless draw at home to Uganda Cranes and another 1-1 draw away to Rwanda. Mali top the group with 4 points, while Rwanda are bottom with 1 point.

Engin will be assisted by Kennedy Odhiambo and William Muluya as assistant coaches, while Jerim Onyango will be the new goalkeeping Coach.

FKF President, Nick Mwendwa said they are impressed with Engin’s professionalism. “He’s one of the best in Turkey and we want to work with him in our FIFA World Cup 2022 project,” said Mwendwa.

The new coach who holds a UEFA Pro Coaching License was as most recently attached to the Moldova National team. He has previously coached Iranian Super League teams: Saipa, Folad Tabriz, and Sepahan, and the Iranian national team.
