TotalEnergies African Nations Championship 2022 draw set

The draw for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship 2022 will finally take place on May 26th, 2022th.

CAF announced that for the first time in the history of the competition, 18 teams will participate in the next final tournament set to take place in Algeria in January and February 2023. 

CAF disclosed that the draw to be conducted in Cairo, Egypt will be live on all CAF digital pages draw

Algerian legend Djamal Menad, top scorer and winner of 1990 AFCON with Algeria, will be the draw assistant joined by CAF Head of Competitions Khaled Nassar.

Three teams from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) Zone will qualify for the Championship.

Apart from Kenya who are still suspended by FIFA and Eritrea who didnot enter a team, all the other members in the CECAFA Zone who are full CAF members Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia and Djibouti are expected to play in the qualifiers.

The TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) is the competition which brings together players who compete in their respective domestic Leagues. 

Morocco are the defending champions.
