CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup: Otieno, Suleiman Ibrahim lead scorers chart

Kenya’s Paul Reagan Otieno and Ali Suleiman Ibrahim (Eritrea) have proved sharp in-front of goal as they lead the scoring chart at the on-going CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.

As the regional tournament enters match seven tomorrow Otieno and Suleiman Ibrahim have scored three goals each, while Ethiopia’s skipper Abubeker Nasir Ahmed has scored two goals together with Kenya’s Benson Oluoch Ochieng.

Suleiman Ibrahim netted a hat-trick in their opening 3-3 draw against hosts Ethiopia, but failed to find the net in the 3-0 defeat to Burundi yesterday.

Kenya’s forward Otieno who has vowed to keep scoring netted two in the 3-0 win against Djibouti and added one more to help the Emerging Stars stop South Sudan 2-0 yesterday at the Bahir Dar Stadium.

“I am glad we have won two games and now booked a place in the semi finals. I will keep working hard to make sure I score more goals that can help the team get to the later stages of this tournament and may be win the trophy,” said Otieno.

The tournament will continue tomorrow with one game on card as hosts Ethiopia battle Burundi in a Pool B match which will determine which team will come out top to make it to the semi final stage.
