CECAFA U-20 CHALLENGE CUP: Tanzania to face Uganda Hippos in quarter final
Tanzania will travel to Gulu to face Uganda Hippos in one of the quarter final matches of the Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup on Sunday. The Tanzanian team finished top of Group B after they humbled 10-man Zanzibar 5-0 in the last game played at the Fufa Technical Center on Thursday.
Kelvin Pius John netted a hat-trick, while Lusajo Elukaga Mwikenda and Novatus Disnas Miroshi. Zanzibar had Mudathir Nassor Ali sent off later in the second half.
Although Tanzania and Kenya finished on the same number of points and goals, Zeberi Katwila’s team had a better discipline record with three yellow cards against Kenya’s five.
The other quarter final games that will take place on Sunday will see Eritrea who topped Group A traveling to face Zanzibar in Njeru, while Sudan face South Sudan in Gulu and Burundi take on Kenya in Njeru.
“We are happy with the way the tournament is getting on and we expect very competitive matches in the knock out level,” said Nicholas Musonye, General Secretary of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa).
The semi finals of this FIFA sponsored tournament will be played on October 2nd in Gulu and the finals and play-off on October 5th.
