The 2019 Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup enters the quarter final stage on Sunday with matches at the Fufa Technical center in Njeru and the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu. It will be a brother affair when Sudan battle South Sudan in a game expected to be a thriller in Gulu.

South Sudan who for the first time qualified for the knock out stage in a Cecafa tournament have promised to prove a point.

Simon James Yor, the South Sudan coach told cecafafootball that his team is determined to go all the way. “I know Sudan have a good team, but we are going to go all out to make history,” added the coach.

Striker Dani Lual Gumnok with three goals already in the tournament together with skipper Daniel Samuel Solong are expected to play pivotal role for the South Sudan team.

But Sudan who finished second in Group A in the group stage will look to their stars Mohamad Abbas Namir and Musab Kurdman Elsiddiq.

The second game in Gulu will see in-form Tanzania battle Uganda Hippos in another game that promises to be a tense encounter. Tanzania who topped Group B are the other team that scored 11 goals in the group stage and will look to two key players who have four goals each Kelvin Pius John and Andrew Albart Simchimba.

But Uganda’s Ivan Bogere who netted a brace to help Proline FC eject Rwanda AS Kigali in the CAF Confederations Cup on Saturday is expected to be key for the home side.

In Njeru Burundi will face a tough task against an equally good Kenyan side that also scored 11 goals in the group stage. Sydney Lokale with four goals to his name will lead Kenya’s attack, while skipper Hamidu Hakizimana will be key for Burundi.

“We are going to play our usual style of play but also remember that this is a knock out stage. We must make sure we take our chances,” Kenya’s coach Stanley Okumbi.

Eritrea who have played a highly passing game in the group stage to top A will later take on Zanzibar in Njeru.

The regional tournament sponsored by FIFA attracted 11 team minus Rwanda. The final will be played on October 5th in Gulu.
