CECAFA U-17 WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP:  Six teams to battle in round robin format

The inaugural 2019 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup will be played in a round robin format among the six teams that entered. Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) said the tournament will take place at the Fufa technical Center in Njeru from December 9-17th.

“We are excited that we have six teams ready to showcase talent in the inaugural tournament. As CECAFA we shall continue to provide as many tournaments as possible for players in the region to get a platform to improve.

Musonye said that the six teams will play against each other and the team with the highest points will win the trophy.

The teams that will take part include; Tanzania, Eritrea, Djibouti, Kenya, Burundi and hosts Uganda.

Last month Tanzania successfully hosted the CECAFA Senior Women’s Challenge Cup. Kenya Starlets defeated Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Queens in the final, while Uganda finished third.
