CECAFA U-17 WOMEN’S CHALLENGE CUP: Arusi nets a hat-trick in Kenya’s win

Kenya’s Anna Arusi netted a hat-trick to help Kenya beat Burundi 3-2 in a 2019 CECAFA U-17 Women’s Challenge Cup match played on Sunday. Arusi netted all the three goals in the first half in a well attended match at the Fufa Technical center in Njeru. Stephie Mutoni and Sarah Karenzo scored for Burundi.

The second game saw Uganda maintain her lead on the go after coming from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Tanzania.

Aisha Masaka gave Tanzania the lead after 22 minutes, but Fauzia Najjemba converted a penalty after 35 minutes to level matters.

The Eritrean team also picked their first win in the inaugural tournament scoring four unanswered goals against Djibouti. Misgana Mehari scored a hat-trick, while Haben Goitom netted the other goal.

Uganda are top of the table with 10 points, while Tanzania have 8 points and Kenya 7. The tournament being played on a round robin basis will climax on Tuesday with Burundi facing Eritrea in the first match, while Djibouti face Tanzania and Uganda play Kenya.
