Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup: Kyeyune leads scorers chart with six goals

Uganda’s Abasi Kyeyune leads the scorers chart with six goals as the inaugural Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup enters the semi final stage on Wednesday. The Ugandan striker scored in three of the group games against Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Sudan.

He will be hungry to increase his tally when Uganda face Burundi in the semis, while other Ugandans Davis Ogwal and Travis Mutyaba who have scored three goals each will also be eager to get their names on the score sheets again.

“I am determined to score more goals to become the top scorer of the tournament. As a striker scoring goals makes me happy and I want to be the top scorer in this tournament,” Kyeyune told Cecafafootball.com.

Eritrea’s Ahmed Awad with five goals will not have chance to increase his tally as the team failed to make it to the knock out stage. But Rwanda’s Eric Irahamye and Florien Interiteka (Burundi) with four goals each are expected to come all out determined to prove a points that they can still score more goals.

A record 67 goals were scored in twenty games of the Group stages, while 21 yellow card were dished out. South Sudan’s David Duol Doluony was the only player to receive a red card in the group stage
