CECAFA teams placed in same groups for African Games in Ghana

Teams from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) have been drawn in the same groups (men and women) ahead of the African Games 2023 in Ghana.

In the draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday, South Sudan, Uganda, Tunisia, Senegal and giants Nigeria were placed in Group B in the men’s cetegory.

The women’s teams of Tanzania, Uganda and Ethiopia are also placed in Group A alongside the hosts Ghana.

The 13th African Games which will feature different disciplines are expected to be held in Ghana between March 8-23, 2024 in three different cities of Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast

CAF decided that the eight quarter finalists at the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2023 together with the host Ghana will qualify for the event, while the women’s teams that qualified for the fourth qualifying rounds of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers also qualified.

Men’s groups

Group A : Ghana, The Gambia, Benin, Congo Brazzaville

Group B : Nigeria, South Sudan, Senegal, Uganda, Tunisia

Women’s groups

Group A : Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia

Group B : Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Morocco
