CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship knock out stage set

The semi final stage for the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship 2022 is now set after two more teams qualified.

On Monday Tanzania humbled Zanzibar 12-0, while Ethiopia saw off South Sudan 4-0 in Group B matches played at different venues.

At the FUFA Technical centre Clement Opa Tukumbuke netted four goals, while Omary Mwanahamisi also bagged a hat-trick for the 2019 runners up Tanzania.

Ester Mabanza, Protasia Mbunda, Diana Lucas Msewa, Janeth Pangamwene and Enekia Kasonga Lunyamila also netted a goal each for the Twiga Stars.

Oscar Mirambo, the Tanzania head coach said after completing the group stage, they are now looking forward to the semi final stage. “We need to prepare well because facing Burundi will be a tough task,” added Mirambo.

The second match played at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe saw Ethiopia stop South Sudan with Aregash Kalsa Tadesse scoring a hat trick, and skipper Loza Abera also getting her name on the score sheet.

On Thursday Uganda Crested Cranes who are the only team to win all their matches in the group stages will face Ethiopia in the first semi final clash, and Tanzania battle Burundi later.
