Cecafa re-adjust U-20 Challenge Cup fixtures again
The 2019 Cecafa U-20 Challenge Cup will will start with three matches on September 21st. Fixtures of the competition were re-adjusted by the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) on Thursday evening.
Two Group A matches will go on as earlier planned with Sudan taking on Djibouti, before Uganda Hippos battle Eritrea at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.
A third match has been added on Saturday’s fixture with Burundi facing South Sudan in a Group C match at the Fufa Technical Center in Njeru.
On Sunday action will shift to Group B with Kenya’s Raising Stars facing Zanzibar, before Ethiopia take on Tanzania.
Already all the foreign teams have arrived in Uganda apart from Zanzibar and Ethiopia that jet-in on Friday, and Somalia on Saturday.
The best two teams from Group C and top three from Groups A and B will qualify for the quarter finals slated for September 29-30th.
The regional tournament which will attract 11 teams is sponsored by FIFA. Eritrea hosted the last Cecafa U-20 tournament in 2010.
Group A: Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti
Group B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania
Group C: Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia
