The President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa), Wallace Karia has said members of the regional body will hold a planning meeting in Rabat, Morocco next month.

“Since we shall be having the CAF Assembly in Rabat, we shall meet as members of the Cecafa region since all presidents will be in Morocco,” said Karia.

He made it clear that during the meeting they will also discuss the calendar for the 2021 season and the hosts of the various tournaments that will be lined-up.

“We need to keep having tournaments in the region both for the seniors and juniors because with competitions it strengthens out teams,” he reasoned.

Karia made it clear that because of the challenges caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the calendar was affected last year and only the U-17 and U-20 Afcon qualifiers were played. “I thank Tanzania and Rwanda for hosting the qualifiers last year during the tougher COVID-19 times,” added Karia.

Cecafa is hoping to organize the Senior Challenge Cup, Women’s Challenge Cup, Kagame Club Championship and two junior events this season.

The members of Cecafa include; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, South Sudan and Zanzibar.
