CECAFA Members attend Women’s Football Capacity Building Workshop in Cairo

Several officials from Members Associations (MAS) in the CECAFA Zone are attending CAF Women’s Football Capacity Building Workshop in Cairo, Egypt.

The workshop that has attracted representatives from all the 54 Member Associations started on Monday and ends today at the Movenpick Hotel.

The workshop organized by the CAF Women’s department headed by Meskerem Tadesse is focusing on empowering women who are taking care of women football across Africa.

“The event aims to take women’s football to the next level. We want to empower women in football to become football directors, Presidents and more. And we want to make sure that African young girls can dream high,” added Tadesse.

Jean Sseninde, a former Ugandan international and now CECAFA Women Football Development Manager who is also attending the workshop says it is a blessing to have all women handing football in Africa gather and exchange ideas in one place.

“This has been an amazing opportunity and I would like to thank CAF for organizing this capacity building workshop for us as women and personally looking forward to the impact it’s going to create,” added Sseninde.

Apart from Sudan, all the Member Associations from the CECAFA Zone have been represented at the workshop. The officials attending from the CECAFA Zone include; Joan Namusisi (Uganda), Bertha Peter Mpulo (Tanzania), Neema Machano (Zanzibar), Daniella Niyibimenya (Burundi), Ann Mbonimpa (Rwanda), Ibtisam Yasin (Somalia), Mileshu Isaak (Eritrea), Mihret Guta (Ethiopia), Viola Edwards (South Sudan), Sabah Ali (Djibouti), Natasha Moraa Nyakundi (Kenya) and Sseninde from CECAFA.
