KMKM SC have finished in third place at the regional CECAFA Kagame Cup 2021.

The Zanzibar Premier League champions stopped a 10-man Azam FC 1-0 in a play-off match played this afternoon at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

It was Mohamed Iliyasa Suleiman who nodded in an early 4th minute goal for KMKM SC.

The home side fought back strongly and created more clear scoring chances in the first half, but the KMKM SC team stood firm.
Azam FC returned again after recess to look for goals, but they were reduced by one player after Oscar Masai was sent off after 77 minutes for a bad tackle.

Valentino Mashaka almost leveled matters for Azam FC after 79 minutes, but his shot hit the crossbar with KMKM SC goalkeeper Nassor Abdulla Nassor well beaten.

In the last 10 minutes the Zanzibari team defended well and held on to win. KMKM SC also beat Azam FC 3-2 in the group stages last week.

KMKM SC will pocket US$10,000 for finishing third and it will be a good motivating factor as they head for the CAF TotalEnergies Champions League next month.
