Azam FC defeated Le Messager Ngozi FC (Burundi) 1-0 in a B match played at the Azam Complex, Chamazi this evening.
After the Burundian team pushing forward for most of the early 15 minutes, Azam FC settled to create some decent chances infront of goal.

It was some good spade work by Azam FC’s Tepsi Evancy Theonasy later to set-up Iddi Kipagwile who finished with a shot past the Le Messager Ngozi goalkeeper Onesime Rukundo after 22 minutes.

The Burundi Premier League champions fought back strongly after conceding the goal with skipper Cedrick Danny Urasenga and Olivier Bayizere causing tough times for the Azam FC defenders.

In the second half the Le Messager Ngozi team continued to dominate, but failed to find the goals. Defender Adolphe Hakizimana came close for Le Messager Ngozi after 59 minutes, but his shot missed the target.
