CECAFA inspects facilities in Ethiopia ahead of U-23 Challenge Cup

The Executive Director of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), Auka Gacheo is in Ethiopia to inspect facilities ahead of the U-23 Men’s Challenge Cup.

Auka Gacheo who arrived in Ethiopia over the weekend is expected to inspect the playing Stadium in Bahir Dar, training facilities and hotels.

Ethiopia is expected to host the first 2021 tournament in the CECAFA region between July 3-18th.
Isayas Jira Bosho, President of the Ethiopia Football Federation (EFF) told Cecafaonline that they are determined to host a successful tournament at the Bahir Dar Stadium.

Ahead of the CAF general Assembly in Morocco in March this year, CECAFA members agreed that the 2021 Challenge Cup is an event for the U-23 teams.

The teams expected to participate include hosts Ethiopia, South Sudan, Kenya, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Zanzibar.

The other tournaments lined up CECAFA will organize in 2021 include the Zonal qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, CECAFA Kagame Cup, CECAFA U-20 Women Championship and CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship.
