Cecafa adjust fixture ahead of U-15 Challenge Cup in Eritrea
The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) has made adjustments to the fixtures ahead of Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup.
Nicholas Musonye, the Cecafa Secretary general confirmed that following the withdraw of Djibouti they have had to make adjustments.
“We shall now have 10 teams taking part with five in each group. We cannot have three groups now after Djibouti pulled out,” said Musonye.
The inaugural Cecafa U-15 Challenge Cup is set to take place in the Eritrean capital Asmara from August 16-30.
The competition will start with Kenya facing Somalia, before the hosts Eritrea battle Burundi in the second game all at the Asmara National Stadium.
During a press conference held on Thursday Musonye thanked the political leadership of Eritrea and Ethiopia that took a very strong step to work together which will open up to football development. “The peace agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia has now allowed for easy movement of things and football,” added Musonye.
Esayas Abraham, President of the Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) thanked the government for allowing to host the tournament.
Petra Doris, head of the Organising Committee thanked the people of Eritrea for the good hospitality. “We are looking forward to a successful tournament,” she added.

Group B: Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania
