CAF Vice President Waberi to grace Zonal Women’s Champions League semis

The semi-final stage of the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers 2024 will take place on August 26th at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Souleiman Hassan Waberi, the third Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will grace the semi-final and final matches.

The CECAFA Executive Director John Auka Gecheo confirmed that apart from the CAF Vice President, the CECAFA President Wallace Karia, Burundi Football Federation president Alexandre Muyenge, Federation of Uganda Football Associations President Moses Hassim Magogo and the Football Kenya Federation  Vice President Doris Petra will also attend the knock-out matches.

“We have had a very successful group stage of the Zonal qualifiers, and hope to have even more entertaining football in the knock-out stage,” added Auka.

Simba Queens, the 2022 Zonal champions will take to the filed first against Kenya Police Bullets WFC in the first semi-final, while Commercial Bank of Ethiopia face Kawempe Muslim Ladies from Uganda in the second semi-final.

The other teams that failed to make it to the knock out stage and will have to travel back to their countries include; Rayon Sports WFC (Rwanda), Yei Joint Stars WFC (South Sudan), FAD (Djibouti) and PVP Buyenzi (Burundi).
