CAF select Karia, Ndikuriyo, Mwendwa on AFCON Commission
The President of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), Wallace Karia is among a 27-team on the Commission to organize the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the 2019-2021 cycle. Karia, also President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) is also joined by President of the Burundi FA, Reverien Ndikuriyo and Nicholas Kithuku Mwendwa, President of the Kenya FA.
The Commission which was released last week is headed by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, while Senegal’s FA President, Augustin Senghor is the Vice President.
President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) who is also an executive member of CAF, Moses Magogo maintained his position as President of the Futsal and Bech Soccer Commission which also has Djibouti’s Ali Harred Mohamed.
Eight members from the CECAFA region were also selected on the Commission for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) and these include; Haruna Moses Mawanda (Uganda), Younisse Yassin Mohamed (Djibouti), Isayas Jira Bosho (Ethiopia), Abraham Esayas (Eritrea), Hassan Bargo (Sudan), Francis Amin Michael (South Sudan), Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud (Somalia) and Rwanda’s Jean Damascene Sekamana.
Uganda’s former international Jean Sseninde was also selected on the Commission for Women’s Football that also has Burundi’s Lydia Nsekera and Kessy Lina (Tanzania).
Other members from the CECAFA region selected on other Commissions include; Abnet Meskel (Ethiopia), Mohamed Galal (Sudan), Abdel Moneim Moustafa Hussein (Sudan), Jeremie Manirakiza (Burundi), haile Woldemicael (Eritrea), Anthony Otto (South Sudan), Paul Gasper Marealle (Tanzania), Mustapha Samugabo (Burundi), Ali Mohamed Ahmed (Somalia) and Garang Maper Dut (South Sudan).
