CAF President Dr. Motsepe to grace CECAFA Kagame Cup final today

The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe will grace the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2021 final this evening.

Guest side Nyasa Big Bullets from Malawi will face Uganda Premier League Champions Express FC starting at 7pm at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es salaam, Tanzania.

After holding talks with the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa in the Tanzanian capital Dodoma on Friday, and meeting the CECAFA members at the Extra Ordinary Assembly in Dar es Salaam, the CAF President together with the CAF Secretary General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba will watch the final of the regional tournament.

To Reach the final Nyasa Big Bullets stopped Azam FC (Tanzania) 4-2 on penalty shootouts after settling for a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes of play, while Express FC saw off Zanzibar’s KMKM SC 2-1.

Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa told Cecafaonline that his team is rearing to go in the final. “We know what to do because we played against the same team in the group,” added Bbosa.

While Express will look to their in-form players Muzamiru Mutyaba and Eric Kambale to carry the team, Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda will hope that his forwards Chuikepo Msowoya and Bright Munthali knock in the goals. “We are happy to be in the final and the team is determined to perform well,” said the Nyasa Big Bullets coach.

But before the final, Zanzibar’s KMKM SC will face Azam FC (Tanzania) in a playoff to decide who finishes third.

The tournament which attracts top teams from the region is partly sponsored by the Rwanda President Paul Kagame. The winner of the tournament will pocket US$30000, while the runners up takes US$20000, and the third placed team US$10000.
