Al Merreikh will host Tanzanian giants Simba SC in a Group A match of the Total CAF Champions League this evening at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Khartoum.

The match is a true derby for the two tops teams from the Council of East and central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa).

Al Merreikh who are bottom of the log with no points cannot afford to suffer defeat if they hope to get their campaign back on track. But Simba SC who are very motivated and top the table with six points will also be eager to collect three more points to keep their dream alive of making it to the quarter final stage.

Simba SC coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa will be returning to his former team that he helped make it to the group stage before he joined the Tanzanian side in January this year.

“We need to keep positive and work hard in Khartoum because it will not be an easy game,” said Simba’s coach Da Rosa.

Simba will look to their star player Luis Miquissone who scored in the 1-0 win against African Champions Al Ahly, and the likes of Clatous Chama and Meddie Kagere.

Al Merreikh who have only scored one goal and conceded seven will hope that their new signing from Uganda Saidi Kyeyune, Saif Terry and Adeleye Aniyikaye and Hamza Dawood who are returning from injury can do the magic.

The second Group A match will see Al Ahly host DR Congo’s AS Vita in what promises to be a thriller.
